You can also write off the taxes you pay from your federal taxes, standard deduction is 500 or if like me you are doing serious buying you can actually write off the full amount up to X dollars (Z being a number I don't know).<BR/><BR/>My biggest complaint is that it is regressive, which you already posted about. Disproportionately, lower income individuals bear the tax. The tax works out to a greater percent of their income. I have never really worried about it for us.
