A pound of feathers weighs more than a pound of gold. Really
What? 'splain, please.
ReplyDeleteFeathers are weighed under the Avoir DuPois method of weighing. This is the standard that we are familiar with, where 16 ounces go to a pound.
ReplyDeleteGold is measured under the Troy method, which is used for precious metals, and equates 12 ounces to a pound.
Therefore, one pound of feathers (16 oz.) weighs more than one pound of gold (12 oz.).
