  2. Feathers are weighed under the Avoir DuPois method of weighing. This is the standard that we are familiar with, where 16 ounces go to a pound.

    Gold is measured under the Troy method, which is used for precious metals, and equates 12 ounces to a pound.

    Therefore, one pound of feathers (16 oz.) weighs more than one pound of gold (12 oz.).
