This blog is a collection of what goes through the mind of a father, a husband, a son, a friend, a lawyer (not your lawyer), and a storyteller, all competing for attention in my head.

Tuesday Essay Question
Should active duty military members pay federal income tax?
Remember to support your answer, and remember that grades will still be arbitrary and capricious.
Aren't they just a bunch of freeloaders living off the government? Let's take their lives and families and then tax the hell out of them, too... Too much is never enough!
OOps i just read bellejar's comment. Aussie enlisted folks are payed very very well complete with tons of fringe benefits and that's when they're home. When they are overseas or on manouveres the pay goes up dramatically. Businesses in my town love it when they come home because they have so much money to spend.

No. I have no support other than the fact that military pay is already around the poverty level for enlisted persons with families.

The military in the US are drastically underpaid, except for the officers. I think it's ridiculous that we force them to pay their own wages.
